Mokwana off the mark in Saudi

South African international Elias Mokwana found the back of the net as his side, Al-Hazem, secured a 2-1 victory over Al Kholood in the Saudi Pro League on Friday.

Kholood set the tone for the match as they grabbed an early goal through Argentine forward Ramiro Enrique three minutes from the first whistle.

Mokwana leveled matters in the half-hour mark, scoring his first goal in 11 appearances across all competitions for his new club, having already registered a solitary assist.

Former Wydad Athletic Club striker Omar Al Somah gave Al-Hazem the lead seven minutes later as he calmy slotted home from the spot.

As a result, the newly promoted Al-Hazem moved up to 12th place on the Saudi topflight standings, with nine points from nine league outings.

Mokwana joined Al-Hazem on a season-long loan with an option to buy after he was deemed surplus to requirements by Esperance de Tunis head coach Maher Kanzari.
