The Peoples Person relayed recently that United were closing in on the signing of the Swedish striker from Hammarby.

The club’s official website reported that, “Manchester United are delighted to announce the signing of Sweden international Ellen Wangerheim on a three-year deal, which sees her at the club until June 2029.”

Commenting on the move, the 21-year-old expressed her delight by stating, “I am so excited. It feels amazing to be here. It’s a huge club with big history.”

She continued, “so sitting here in this shirt is a proud moment for me. It’s always been my dream to move abroad and to play in another country, in Europe and in a really big football club.”

The director of women’s football, Matt Johnson, described the striker as “one of Europe’s best young talents” who is “dynamic, invasive and a versatile forward who brings variation and a natural scoring instinct to the team.”

He also stated that he believes United are well set up to maximise her amazing potential.

Wangerheim arrives with a strong reputation, having scored 17 goals and provided 10 assists in 25 matches this season in the Swedish league in 2025.

United will be in action tomorrow against Burnley in the FA Cup. Nonetheless, Wangerheim is likely to make her debut against Arsenal in the League Cup semi-final on Wednesday, 21st January.
