Elliot Anderson spent Friday night back in Newcastle, dining at Jesmond favourite Dabbawal during some rare downtime.

A post from the restaurant hailed the Nottingham Forest midfielder as the Geordie Maradona and said they were dreaming of a permanent return home, urging that it should happen.

According to The Sun, Manchester United are ready to offload eight players this summer to raise £100m as they pursue Anderson, with the report adding that both United and Manchester City would move quickly and that he is going to be a key figure for England at this summer’s World Cup. It also claims United hope Barcelona and Napoli make permanent moves for Marcus Rashford and Rasmus Hojlund, worth £64m in total.

Anderson has been one of the Premier League’s standout performers this season, drawing £100m links from United and City despite Forest’s struggles.

A Newcastle return is regarded as unlikely after they sold him to Forest in summer 2024 to help with PSR, and the fee Forest expect would almost certainly price them out, even with Eddie Howe an admirer.

United, on course for the Champions League under interim boss Michael Carrick, look set to reshape their midfield, with Anderson reportedly at the top of their list and City also keen.
