Manchester United have been linked with numerous midfielders for the upcoming summer window.
United fans have witnessed the benefits this season of investing in their attacking and goalkeeping departments, with significant improvements compared to last season.
The Red Devils have included Premier League-proven players on their shortlist, such as Cameroonian Carlos Baleba, Elliot Anderson, Sandro Tonali and Adam Wharton.
The departure of Casemiro this summer, along with Manuel Ugarte’s uncertain future, makes it pivotal that United spend big in the midfield department during the upcoming window.
Elliot Anderson has been widely discussed as one of the Red Devils’ most likely targets this summer.
Michael Carrick’s side will certainly face obstacles to a deal, as the likes of Chelsea, Manchester City and Bayern Munich have all been linked with the midfielder as well.
Reports yesterday suggest that United have been laying the groundwork for months for a potential deal for the England international and are prepared to shatter their club record spend to secure his signature.
The 23-year-old was asked by The Independent about a potential move this summer, and he replied, “I’m just focusing on my football at the moment and performing and trying to give everything for Nottingham Forest, really.”
The United target also commented on how his game has improved at the City Ground, stating, “it’s been a big two years. I think I’ve done pretty well, to be honest, in the time I’ve been here, on and off the pitch. I think I’ve matured as a person as well.”
Anderson has played 34 games in all competitions this season, scoring one goal and providing three assists for the Tricky Trees.
