Emanuel Emegha nearing Strasbourg return

With Joaquín Panichelli out until the end of the season with an ACL injury, eyes are naturally turning towards Emanuel Emegha. The Netherlands international has not featured at all since the end of November, however, L’Équipe understands that he is now nearing a return to action.

Panichelli is Ligue 1’s top scorer, but he suffered an ACL injury while on international duty with Argentina. David Datro Fofana was also brought in on loan from Chelsea in the final hours of the January transfer window, but there is no doubting that there will now be a greater reliance on Emegha, who has now not featured for four months.

L’Équipe reports that he trained normally this week, ahead of the return of domestic football. The same goes for Chelsea loanee Aaron Anselmmino, who has struggled with a muscular injury since joining Le Racing during the winter transfer window. Ben Chilwell missed Strasbourg’s last two games before the international break, but also participated in Tuesday’s training session. The Englishman could therefore feature against OGC Nice this weekend.
