Grêmio edged Deportivo Riestra 1-0 at the Arena, with Tetê withdrawn at half-time before José Enamorado beat two men and teed up Amuzu on 41 minutes of the second half.
According to Globo.com, the display strengthens Enamorado’s case to start ahead of Tetê. He had begun the last three games but was withdrawn at half-time against Riestra, as he was versus Vasco and Palmeiras, while both started against City Torque in the Sudamericana opener.
Grêmio’s attack is short of goals, with only two in the last four outings as the crisis deepened. Possession reached 81.5% against Riestra yet clear chances were scarce and the breakthrough arrived late.
Enamorado said Luís Castro asked the wingers to attack space and take on opponents one v one. He noted Riestra had an extra player and a strong back five, which made openings hard to find, before his run created the winner.
With Amuzu and Carlos Vinicius established, the right side is a straight fight. Enamorado, 27, has 942 minutes in 19 games, nine starts, with one goal in the first-leg Gre-Nal final and three assists. Tetê has 871 minutes in 16 matches, 12 starts, and two goals against Botafogo and Juventude.
Castro has acknowledged Tetê’s dip, saying after the two April defeat to Palmeiras that the winger faces a personal issue and has the pedigree to do more. Enamorado could start on Saturday when Grêmio visit Cruzeiro at 20:30 in round 12, with selection settled in Friday training at CT Luiz Carvalho.
