Lyon are pushing to sign Loïs Openda on loan from Juventus Turin after agreeing terms with the striker. The move would address Endrick’s return to Real Madrid after last season’s loan.

According to L'Équipe, the club must now convince Juventus on the deal. Openda, 26, has 33 caps and three goals for Belgium, and is keen to join Paulo Fonseca’s project and play Champions League football, which is not yet guaranteed.

Talks with Juventus cover the structure of the loan, with or without an option to buy, and how to split his salary. The forward earns about 8 million euros a year gross. If completed, OL would pay a small part, Juventus cover the majority, plus a loan fee.

According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, Openda should remain with Juve until Saturday for a friendly in Liège against Standard. The Italian club would prefer a Premier League move, with Ipswich and Coventry interested.

After revisiting a remote Endrick option despite January’s good relations with sporting director Matthieu Louis-Jean, Lyon looked at Mathys Tel, 21, at Tottenham, and Arnaud Kalimuendo, 24, at Nottingham Forest, both potential loans.

OL have ruled out buying a number nine this summer, finances dictate sales first, so only a loan is planned. They want a deal before the 30 July registration deadline for Champions League qualifiers.

Openda struggled in 2025-26 at Juve, scoring two in 34 games. He would hope to recapture 21 in 42 for Lens in 2022-23 and 41 in 93 for Leipzig.
