England face a nervous wait on Reece James’ fitness after the right-back missed training on Thursday.
Thomas Tuchel’s side take on Panama in their final fixture of Group L, needing to win, while avoiding a goal difference swing, to top the group.
The Three Lions have concerns over Declan Rice, who has a calf injury, and Chelsea captain James, who sustained a hamstring issue during the goalless draw with Ghana.
James took no part in Thursday’s training session and is a major doubt to feature at MetLife Stadium on Saturday night. The 26-year-old has started each of England’s opening two games.
Ezri Konsa could be moved to right-back in his absence, with John Stones recalled at centre-back.
Alternatively, Djed Spence could move to right-back with Nico O’Reilly brought back in at left-back. Jarell Quansah offers another option for England at right-back.
Kobbie Mainoo is expected to come into midfield for Rice. Though Rice’s fitness is not a major concern, the Arsenal midfielder’s issue, and risk of suspension for the Round of 32 if he picks up a booking, could see Tuchel opt against his selection.
