Harry Kane has already demonstrated his class early on in the World Cup. Now, his England teammate Declan Rice has heaped special praise on the Bayern striker.
Harry Kane has been one of the most important players on the English national team for years. After scoring a brace in the 4-2 opening victory over Croatia, the Bayern Munich striker is once again in the spotlight—this time because of the praise he received from a teammate.
Ahead of the Three Lions’ second group stage match against Ghana, Declan Rice highlighted the 32-year-old’s importance to the team. The midfielder was particularly impressed by Kane’s leadership qualities.
“He’s one of those players I consider myself very lucky to have. First of all, he’s our captain. And second, the way he leads by example every day and drives everyone on in training,” he said.
Rice has known Kane up close for years on the national team and made it clear that the Bayern star’s performances come as no surprise to him: “It doesn’t surprise me that he’s so good, considering how many goals he scores in training and what he’s accomplished at FC Bayern Munich and for the English national team.”
With his two goals against Croatia, Kane has gotten off to a perfect start in the tournament. At the same time, he tied Gary Lineker’s World Cup scoring record and moved further up the all-time scoring list for England.
For Rice, there’s no question at all about how important the Bayern Munich pro is to England: “It’s an honor to play with him.”

The next opportunity for Kane to score more goals comes as early as Tuesday evening. At 10 p.m., England will face Ghana in their second group stage match.
With another win, the Three Lions could take a big step toward the Round of 16.
Once again, hopes rest on Kane. The striker comes into the tournament with the confidence of an outstanding season. Last season, he scored an impressive 61 goals for FC Bayern and added seven assists.
