England meet the Central American side at the Inter&Co Stadium in Orlando, Florida, on Wednesday in a match that could face some disruption if a thunderstorm forecast for close to kick-off causes delays.

The Three Lions have been conducting warm-weather and humidity training in Florida for more than a week as they gear up for their World Cup opener against Croatia in Dallas on June 17.

Their first warm-up game saw Harry Kane’s goal earn a 1-0 win over New Zealand on Saturday in a match where Tuchel fielded a completely new XI for the second half and connections between players were not always clean.

The Arsenal quartet of Bukayo Saka, Eberechi Eze, Noni Madueke and Tuchel’s new vice captain, Declan Rice, were not involved in the New Zealand game after being given an extended rest after the Gunners’ involvement in the Champions League final.

They joined the rest of the squad at the weekend, though, and are all in contention to play against Costa Rica.

Bukayo Saka and Noni Madueke are expected to feature against Costa Rica

Dean Henderson also joined the squad late, midway through last week, after Crystal Palace contested the Conference League final. The other goalkeepers Jordan Pickford and James Trafford played a half each against New Zealand, so Henderson will hope for to feature in Orlando.

Tuchel will again be keen to experiment but also to manage minutes in punishing heat in the Sunshine State.

Rio Ngumoha, 17, won player of the match for his second-half display against New Zealand but was the only one of the quartet of non-squad training players who made it onto the field for his international debut.

Bournemouth’s Alex Scott, Fulham’s Josh King and Arsenal’s Ethan Nwaneri remain uncapped and will be hoping for debuts of their own before departing when Tuchel’s 26-man main squad fly to Kansas City for the tournament itself on Saturday.

Tuchel may feel like rewarding one or two of them for their help in providing help in training in preparing his squad for their World Cup campaign.

England predicted XI vs Costa Rica (4-2-3-1): D Henderson; James, Stones, Guehi, O’Reilly; Mainoo, J Henderson; Saka, Bellingham, Gordon; Kane
