English club midfielder: Memphis loves Brazil and Corinthians

Dutch midfielder Ryan Gravenberch, from Liverpool, gave an interview to SBT, where he talked about his closeness with Memphis, the Corinthians forward. In the conversation, he revealed that the number 10 for the black-and-whites always shares positive stories about his experience playing in Brazil and for Timão, also highlighting the player’s enthusiasm for the Corinthians fans.

“Yes, we talk mainly when we’re with the national team, and I ask him what it’s like there and how he feels about it. He always says good things to me, and we’ll see him again, I think, in about a week and a half, so I’ll ask him again. He loves being there, he loves Brazil. I think he lives in São Paulo now, and he loves it there. He just wants to stay there too, I think, and the (Corinthians) fans are really passionate.”

Gravenberch and Memphis have been meeting frequently during call-ups for the Netherlands national team for the UEFA Qualifiers for the 2026 World Cup. According to the midfielder, the possibility of one day playing in Brazilian football, thus putting all of Memphis’s stories about the country to the test, is something he considers.

“Yes, I want to go there one day (to Brazil). Maybe in the future (I could play there), you never know, but I think it’s really cool. I see some clips sometimes on Instagram, for example, and the fans are really crazy, so you never know. Maybe at some point in my life, I hope everything goes well.”

Gravenberch played for Liverpool this Tuesday afternoon (4), helping the team beat Real Madrid-ESP 1-0 in the UEFA Champions League. Memphis, meanwhile, is set to take the field for Corinthians this Wednesday (5), against Red Bull Bragantino, for another round of the Brazilian Championship.
