English duo Angel Gomes and CJ Egan-Riley could leave Marseille in January | OneFootball

Angel Gomes (25) was a market opportunity that Olympique de Marseille pounced on. During his final season at Lille OSC, the Manchester United academy product became an England international, but he would not renew with Les Dogues, instead leaving on a free transfer.

However, since arriving at the Vélodrome, Gomes has yet to establish himself as a first-choice pick. He has yet to start a game in the UEFA Champions League and, despite starting 12 Ligue 1 games, he has not come off the bench in the last two. 

L’Équipe understands that, with the World Cup coming up, Gomes’ entourage are already open to a departure, just six months after his arrival. He could be followed out of the door by his compatriot, CJ Egan-Riley (22).

Like Gomes, Egan-Riley arrived on a free transfer over the summer, following the expiry of his deal at Burnley. He, too, has struggled to establish himself and has played just 15 minutes of football since the November international break.
