Enzo Fernández was at the centre of ugly scenes after Chelsea’s 2-3 defeat to Arsenal in the first leg of the EFL Cup semi-final at Stamford Bridge.
According to Glorioso 1904, the Argentine confronted Martin Zubimendi, with pushing and words exchanged before players from both sides stepped in to head off sterner disciplinary fallout.
The flashpoint drew both managers onto the pitch. Liam Rosenior moved to calm Fernández, while Mikel Arteta intervened with Zubimendi, an uncommon sight after the final whistle.
Despite the home setback, the tie remains open. The return is scheduled at Arsenal on 3 February at 20:00, a demanding assignment given the strength of Arteta’s side at home.
This season Fernández has made 27 appearances for Chelsea, 19 in the Premier League, six in the UEFA Champions League and two in the EFL Cup. Across 2,155 minutes he has scored seven goals and supplied two assists. He is valued at 85 million euros.
