PSG’s Champions League trip to Chelsea on Wednesday at 21:00 brings a fresh look at long-time target Enzo Fernandez. According to L'Équipe, he remains on their radar despite a deal to June 2032 and wages near 10 M€ a year, and his future could still shift.
Fernandez broke out at Benfica after arriving in summer 2022 from River Plate, then starred at the 2022 World Cup. Chelsea paid more than 120 M€ to sign him in early 2023.
Paris see him as one of the market opportunities Luis Enrique often mentions. At 25 he pairs elite experience with still untapped potential and has grown more decisive nearer goal over the past two seasons.
PSG have kept contact without making concrete moves, the contractual framework remaining a major obstacle.
The winter dismissal of Enzo Maresca and appointment of Liam Rosenior created uncertainty, but Fernandez has stayed a fixture. He has started 12 of 12 in the Premier League, Champions League and League Cup, resting only in the FA Cup.
Missing next season’s Champions League, with Chelsea currently fifth, could push him to consider a summer move. Any exit would depend on the owners amid 407 M€ losses before tax in 2024-2025 and a suspended 80 M€ UEFA fine. Heavyweights including Real Madrid are monitoring, and Paris would weigh any opening against their ultra-targeted approach, but on 11 March nothing is close.
