Enzo Maresca has once again complained about the little time he and his players have between fixtures.

The Blues boss was speaking after last night’s Carabao Cup win against Cardiff City, where they beat the League One side 3-1 away from home.

The score line didn’t reflect the game at all and Chelsea would have felt relieved to grab two late winning goals – one from the reliable Pedro Neto who put a deflected shot in, and one from a very tidy Alejandro Garnacho finish. But both of these players were emergency subs as Chelsea struggled like mad against Cardiff.

Overall though, it was a poor performance by Maresca’s side but at the end of the day, they got the win that they needed, they got the job done, and they’re now into the semi finals of the compeitition!

Maresca short on time

After the game, the Italian told the media, as cited on X:

“Now we have three hours to arrive to Cobham, and I will watch two Newcastle games. There is no time. Time is for the players. For us as staff, we’re going to be focused on the next one, that is Newcastle, so we’re going to prepare.”

Another big game

Most games seem to be massive for Chelsea right now after the tension rose on Maresca earlier this week. Everton was a big game that they had to win, with the pressure on after a rough run of form.
