According to Globo.com, Flamengo risk losing Erick Pulgar in 2026 because a release clause could be met, even as he remains a cornerstone under Leonardo Jardim.

When he renewed last year, the club cut the fee to six million dollars, R$31.5 million at current rates, effective from mid 2026. He had been contracted to the end of 2025 and was minded to leave, but reversed his stance after the arrival of Filipe Luís, feeling more valued.

His deal now runs until the end of next year, yet the low clause leaves his stay in doubt. A similar move with Gerson set his figure at 25 million euros, which Zenit paid in July to take him from Flamengo.

There are no offers on the table for Pulgar. With the market likely narrower for a 32-year-old, and Chile missing the World Cup, the absence of that shop window eases club concerns.

Even so, the hierarchy see a need to value him. Despite a pay rise in 2025, he earns less than midfielders signed later, and a further uplift could sway him to remain in Rio if a bid arrives in the next window.

In 2026 he has 14 appearances and two goals for Flamengo. He has started four of Leonardo Jardim’s five matches, missing only the Corinthians fixture because of suspension.
