Erling Haaland remains in doubt for Manchester City’s clash with Liverpool | OneFootball

Before Manchester City went down 3-1 to Real Madrid at the Bernabeu on Wednesday evening they suffered a massive injury blow. Erling Haaland didn’t start the match due to the knee injury he sustained against Newcastle. It did seem that Manchester City’s performance and heads dropped without their top scorer on the pitch. The hope is that Haaland is fit enough to start this Sunday’s Premier League fixture against Liverpool at the Etihad. His presence will be needed against the Premier League leaders.

Speaking during his pre-game press conference ahead of Sunday’s match Pep Guardiola was asked about Haaland’s status for Sunday’s match. Guardiola told the media that he was unsure if Erling Haaland would play against Liverpool. He told the media: “I don’t know yet. Tomorrow we’ll know it, I don’t know yet. Yeah, maybe [I’m hopeful], but I don’t know because we don’t train today, until tomorrow he will test.”

Manchester City will be hoping to have Erling Haaland available for Sunday’s massive fixture. They did miss his presence against Real Madrid. Omar Marmoush tried hard up front but his game did suffer from Haaland’s absence and Manchester City’s poor performance at the Bernabeu. Having Haaland on the pitch does make City an infinitely more dangerous proposition. There is no doubt that the Liverpool defence will be hoping that City’s top-scorer misses Sunday’s massive fixture at the Etihad.
