The 24/25 season can only be described as a disappointing campaign for Manchester City. Pep Guardiola’s side entered the season after winning four consecutive Premier League titles. They started the season in strong form before a tough stretch, which started in November and stretched until January took hold. Instead of contending for a fifth Premier League title and honours on multiple fronts, Manchester City are fighting a battle to secure Champions League qualification. They also have the FA Cup final to look forward to this Saturday.

In an interview with the BBC, Erling Haaland has shared his feelings about Manchester City’s 24/25 season. Haaland had plenty to say about what went wrong for his team this season. But while Haaland does tell the truth about City’s season, there is plenty for Pep Guardiola’s squad to salvage from this season.

Manchester City haven’t been good enough this season, as Erling Haaland explains.

Speaking with the BBC, Erling Haaland explained that he and his teammates haven’t been good enough this season. When asked what went wrong for Manchester City this season, he explained: “We haven’t been stable enough this season and we haven’t won enough games, it is as simple as that. We have to perform better in the big games. We haven’t won enough consecutive games. Of course, we have had injuries throughout the season. But we should not search for excuses. Every single one of us hasn’t been good enough, and we haven’t been at our best, so when you are not at your best, you aren’t going to win games in this country because it’s so hard.

Erling Haaland isn’t wrong, but there is still something for Manchester City to salvage from the 24/25 season.

Everything Erling Haaland said is correct. Manchester City haven’t been good enough this season. There is no other way to put it. That’s the reality of the 24/25 season for Pep Guardiola’s side. But despite Erling Haaland’s assessment of this season, there is still plenty for Pep Guardiola’s side to salvage from this season.

Qualifying for the Champions League and winning the FA Cup would be something for Pep Guardiola’s side to take from this season. It would represent something for Manchester City to take from this season, although it wouldn’t make this season a success. Winning the FA Cup would be a fine achievement for Manchester City’s senior players. A host of them are likely to leave the club this summer, and if they could add one more trophy to Manchester City’s trophy cabinet, it would add another chapter to their legacy at the club.

But there is something else that Manchester City can take from the 24/25 season. There can be no drop in desire levels or performance. Those levels must remain high for Pep Guardiola’s side to return to the top of the Premier League. It may take a rebuild of Pep Guardiola’s squad for those levels to return. But that is another lesson to take from this season for everyone associated with Manchester City.
