The Euro 2024 Golden Boot appears an open race with none of the favourites yet to catch fire at the tournament to date.

As we enter the final group games this evening, the leading scorers at Euro 2024 have just two goals each in a five-way tie for the title.

Here are the five players leading the race to be the leading scorer at Euro 2024.

Jamal Musiala – Germany (2)

Jamal Musiala has been one of the most eye-catching performers of the group stage with the midfielder living up to his billing as the jewel in the German crown.

Musiala produced a man-of-the-match performance as the host nation opened the tournament with a 5-1 thrashing of Scotland in Munich, scoring the second with a thumping finish lashed into the roof of the net.

The 21-year-old then broke the deadlock in the 2-0 win over Hungary as Germany took control of Group A. Julian Nagelsmann’s side drew with Switzerland in their final fixture to confirm progress as group winners, setting up a last-16 showdown with Denmark.

Niclas Füllkrug – Germany (2)

Niclas Füllkrug is level with teammate Musiala at the top of the leading scorers list, despite limited involvement for Germany to date.

Kai Havertz has been preferred to the Borussia Dortmund target man during the tournament so far, but Füllkrug has made the most of his opportunities. The 31-year-old came off the bench to thump in a goal against Scotland, before another goal off the bench to rescue a result against Switzerland.

Füllkrug’s towering header ensured Germany secured the top spot in Group A, which could be crucial to their path through the tournament. A late bloomer having made his international debut aged 29, Füllkrug has now scored 13 goals in 19 caps. His two goals at Euro 2024 have come from just 73 minutes of action across three substitute appearances.

Cody Gakpo – Netherlands (2)

Cody Gakpo has enhanced his major tournament record with the Netherlands this summer. Gakpo had a breakout tournament during the Oranje’s 2022 World Cup campaign in Qatar, with three goals, and has scored twice at Euro 2024 so far.

His deflected drive kickstarted a Dutch comeback against Poland in their opening fixture before Gakpo netted his second of the tournament in the 3-2 defeat to Austria.

Georges Mikautadze – Georgia (2)

Georgia have been an entertaining watch on their major tournament debut, with Willy Sagnols’s side involved in two classics against Turkey and the Czech Republic.

Georges Mikautadz has scored both of their goals to date, netting a consolation against Turkey before a converting crucial penalty to earn a point against the Czechs. The 23-year-old has built on a brilliant second half of the season at Metz in which he scored 13 goals in 20 Ligue 1 appearances.

Ivan Schranz – Slovakia (2)

Ivan Schranz is a shock name in the frame as Euro 2024’s leading scorer with the Slavia Prague winger having scored twice in two games.

Schranz had scored just three times in 22 appearances for Slovakia before this tournament, while his last goal for his country had come in November 2021. He has almost doubled his international return just two games into Euro 2024.
