Paris Saint-Germain are reportedly making Manchester United attacking midfielder Bruno Fernandes a top transfer target for this summer.

The Portugal international has been a star performer for Man Utd again this season with eight goals and 16 assists in the Premier League, and he has just a year left on his contract at Old Trafford.

Fernandes also has a release clause in his contract for European clubs, which has been reported by BBC Sport and which ESPN state he negotiated himself.

Now a report from Fichajes states that PSG have become aware of this option and manager Luis Enrique would be keen to get this deal done.

Bruno Fernandes could leave Manchester United for PSG

While Fichajes also mentions interest from Saudi Pro League clubs, it’s easy to imagine Fernandes himself leaning towards a club like PSG.

The 31-year-old has under-achieved in terms of major trophy wins during his time at United, who are not the force they once were.

Fernandes’ recent form shows he is still a world class performer at the highest level, so he might not be ready to leave Europe just yet, especially as he could surely play for a club more likely to offer him trophies.

PSG seems like a good fit for Fernandes, with Enrique said to be keen to bring him in to play alongside his other Portuguese midfield talents Vitinha and Joao Neves.

Overall, Fernandes is obviously an impressive player who wouldn’t be that expensive, but there’s also an argument that PSG would be paying a lot for someone who doesn’t have that long left at the top level, and who they arguably don’t even need that much.

This would be a luxury signing for PSG, which is fine, but there might be smarter business they could do this summer.
