Stuttgart reached the Europa League last 16 despite a 0-1 home defeat to Celtic, advancing 4-2 on aggregate. According to Get German Football News, Sebastian Hoeneß’s side capped a mixed European week for German clubs.

Celtic struck inside 30 seconds, Freiburg loanee Junior Adamu releasing Callum McGregor to finish. It was the visitors’ only first half shot on target before Stuttgart seized control from the 10th minute. Viljami Sinisalo, in after Kasper Schmeichel’s soft concessions in the first leg, preserved the 0-1.

Chris Führich replaced Jamie Leweling at half-time and immediately threatened, almost finding Badredine Bouanani in the 46th minute. Führich had a 68th-minute leveller ruled out for offside, and Deniz Undav suffered the same in the 75th. Bouanani and Tiago Tomas also went close during a dominant second period.

The 21-year-old edged it with four shots on target and five crosses, plus near misses in the 16th, 46th and 65th minutes, twice denied by Sinisalo. He is yet to register a Bundesliga scorer point but scored twice in the group stage.
