Europe’s leading clubs are circling Aiara Agirrezabala after a standout first professional season. The 17-year-old Real Sociedad full-back broke into the senior side at 16 and is now on a post-season break after exams.
According to Diario Vasco, Barcelona, the Champions League and Liga F winners, and finalists Lyon have expressed interest in her situation. Real Madrid and Arsenal have also shown interest, with further suitors emerging from the British Isles.
Heavily trusted by head coach Arturo Ruiz, she earned a Spain call-up and became the youngest debutant in 40 years. She debuted against Ukraine on 18 April at 17 years and 198 days, surpassing Vicky López’s 17 years and 212 days.
Agirrezabala is under contract until 2029, renewing in August last year when she became a full first-team player. Real Sociedad hope she stays for Champions League qualifying, and she intends to remain next season, with no summer move expected unless something exceptional happens.
She debuted under Sánchez Vera on 27 April 2025 aged 16, having joined Zubieta from Tolosa at 14. This season she played 28 league games, 22 starts, missed only two, and contributed six goals and four assists from full-back.
Her form earned the DV de Oro award. She aims to keep progressing at Real and dreams of the World Cup in Brazil next year, having missed the latest camp due to exams, and plans to study Nursing while balancing football and education.
