Nottingham Forest have reworked their off-field structure to stay within UEFA’s multi-club ownership rules should Champions League qualification arise, a scenario that could see them in the same competition as Evangelos Marinakis-owned Olympiacos.

According to Nottingham Post, the steps include diluting Marinakis’ control. Forest beat Porto 2-1 on aggregate to set up a Europa League semi-final with Aston Villa, and if they lift the trophy they would enter the 2026/27 Champions League.

Companies House filings show Marinakis has ceased to be “a person with significant control” of NF Football Investments Limited, which owns Forest. As with last year, a “blind trust” has been created to ensure compliance.

Earlier this year Jonny Owen, Simon Forster and Michael Dugher left the board, with termination notices filed. New submissions show Janet Lucy Gibson, Mr Henry Peter Hickman and Eleanor Catherine Walsh have “consented to act” as directors. Gibson has also joined the NF Football Investments Limited board, where Pittville Four Limited is listed as “a person with significant control”.

UEFA required clubs to have met multi-club ownership criteria as at 1 March 2026. Forest implemented a similar structure last season and ultimately finished seventh to reach the Europa League.

Vitor Pereira’s side face Villa over two legs for a place in the final in Istanbul, with the first match at the City Ground on 30 April and the return at Villa Park a week later.
