Everton could lose striker Beto in the upcoming January transfer window, with Italian giants AS Roma reportedly interested in signing him.

The Giallorossi are in the market for attacking reinforcements and have identified the Portuguese-born forward as a potential target.

Beto, who joined Everton from Udinese for £25.57 million, has struggled to make a significant impact.

He has only scored one goal in nine appearances this season, although most of them came from the bench.

The Guinea-Bissau international striker has failed to dislodge the underperforming Dominic Calvert-Lewin.

However, his impressive performances in Serie A have caught the eye of several top European clubs, including Juventus and Torino.

The potential sale of Beto could be accelerated by the imminent takeover of Everton by the Friedkin Group, who also own Roma.

If Beto does depart in January, it would be yet another blow for Everton, who need all hands on deck as they plot to escape relegation again.

The Toffees are hovering around the dreaded drop zone and must strengthen their squad to avoid falling into the Championship.

It makes no sense for Beto to jump ship to Roma at this point in the season. Artem Dovbyk was Roma’s marquee summer signing and has begun to find his rhythm in Italian football.

The Everton man needs to stay on Merseyside and focus on taking the starting berth from Calvert-Lewin, whose profligacy in front of goal has cost the club points this season.
