Having won 2-0 at Portman Road in October, Everton are seeking to complete a first league-double over Ipswich since 1994/95. The Tractor Boys have actually won their last two visits to Goodison, despite winning three of their first 30 outings there beforehand, dating back to 1953.

Everton vs Ipswich Town preview

This is Everton's penultimate-ever match at Goodison Park and, given that Southampton will be the last-ever visitors in a fortnight, supporters are determined to go out with two wins. However, coming into this one, the Blues are not in the best form, suffering back-to-back defeats for the first time since David Moyes' return, beaten 2-0 by Man City and then, last weekend, 1-0 by Chelsea at Stamford Bridge. This means it's just one win in nine for the Toffees or, on the flip side, only three loses in 14.

As for Ipswich Town, their relegation was rubber-stamped last Saturday, smashed 3-0 by Newcastle at St James' Park, albeit only after Ben Johnson was sent off at 0-0 for two of the stupidest bookable offences you're ever likely to see. This means Kieran McKenna's team have still won only four matches all season, claiming only one victory in 2025, hence why they're on their way back to the Championship. Thus, all the Evertonians in attendance will be confident of having a victory to enjoy.

Everton team news

Armando Broja was ineligible to face his parent club Chelsea last weekend but, having started the previous two matches, is likely to return to lead the line, chosen over Beto.

At the back, James Tarkowski had started 117 consecutive league matches prior to suffering a season-ending hamstring injury against Man City. His absence has required a reshuffle, with Jake O'Brien moving into the centre of defence and Nathan Patterson getting the nod at right-back.

Orel Mangala, Jesper Lindstrøm and Dominic Calvert-Lewin remain sidelined while, having come off the bench during the last four matches, Dwight McNeil is now hoping to start for the first time since 4 December having recovered from a knee injury.

Everton predicted lineup vs Ipswich Town: (4-5-1): Pickford; Patterson, O'Brien, Branthwaite, Mykolenko; Gana Gueye, Garner, Doucouré, Harrison, Ndiaye; Broja.

Everton player to watch vs Ipswich Town

Iliman Ndiaye has nine goals to his name this season, one of which came in the reverse fixture in Suffolk, likely to be the Toffees' primary goal threat again.

Ipswich Town team news

Kieran McKenna travels to Merseyside without 11 senior players. Arijanet Muriç, Axel Tuanzebe, Conor Townsend, Kalvin Phillips, Wes Burns, Chiedozie Ogbene, Nathan Broadhead, Jaden Philogene and Sammie Szmodics are all injured, while Leif Davis and Ben Johnson are both suspended.

Without a recognised left-back, Jacob Greaves will continue to fill-in there, or perhaps Somto Boniface could make his senior debut, having been an unused substitute at Newcastle. In a timely boost, Omari Hutchinson could return, having missed the last five matches due to a thigh issue.

Ipswich Town predicted lineup vs Everton: (4-5-1): Palmer; O'Shea, Woolfenden, Burgess, Greaves; Cajuste, Morsy, Hutchinson, Clarke, Enciso; Delap.

Ipswich Town player to watch vs Everton

Liam Delap has scored 12 Premier League goals this season, directly involved in 42% of Ipswich's goals, so he'll once again be their main attacking outlet.
