The Toffees are keen to tie him down to a new deal and ensure he spends the rest of his career at the Hill Dickinson Stadium.

If Pickford sees out the rest of his new contract, he should break into the Everton top ten all-time appearance list, potentially catching up with Seamus Coleman.

The 31-year-old is currently at number 24, but as a goalkeeper with years ahead and a phenomenal injury record, he has every chance of breaking into the top ten.

Pickford also etched his name into England’s football history by breaking Gordon Banks’ long-standing record with his eighth consecutive clean sheet for the Three Lions.

This remarkable feat means he has gone over a whole year without conceding a goal for his country.

The Everton stopper marked his 79th international cap in style during Thursday’s 3-0 friendly win over Wales, surpassing the World Cup winner’s mark.

Hailed by England boss Thomas Tuchel as a ‘fantastic shot-stopper’, it has been 12 months since he last conceded, in a 2-1 Nations League defeat to Greece.

Since then, he’s faced nine shots on target, denying Serbia, Andorra (twice), Latvia, Albania, the Republic of Ireland, Greece and Wales.

England’s only conceded goals in that period came when he was on the bench against Finland and Senegal.
