Everton want to sign KRC Genk attacker Zakaria El Ouahdi, according to Sky Switzerland journalist Sacha Tavolieri.

El Ouahdi wants to leave Belgium for the Premier League, but he prefers to join Crystal Palace.

Genk want €12 million for the 23-year-old, which Everton can comfortably afford to pay, but they are behind Palace in the race to sign him.

El Ouahdi wants a club pushing for Europe, and the fifth-place Eagles have been impressive this term.

The Toffees are ninth in the table after 16 games, two points off the last Champions League spot.

However, Everton have fought relegation in each of the last four seasons, and the Genk star is unconvinced about joining them.

They will have to look elsewhere for attacking additions during the winter transfer window.

Everton will need their players to step up, as they could do with more consistency heading into the second half of the campaign.

While El Ouahdi is primarily a right winger, he also plays at right-back, which is a position that manager David Moyes wants to improve his squad depth.
