Nine senior Italy players left Serie A to move abroad over the course of the 2025 summer transfer window. From Mateo Retegui to Gioavnni Leoni, here is a reminder of all of them.

Which Italy players left Serie A to move abroad this window?

Mateo Retegui was among the most expensive Serie A sales of the summer transfer window with his €68m transfer to Saudi Pro League side Al-Qadsiah. He left Atalanta just one season on from his €28m transfer from Genoa.

Promising young defender Giovanni Leoni, who has been included in Gennaro Gattuso’s first ever Italy national team squad, secured a big-money move to reigning Premier League champions Liverpool at a cost of €35m including bonuses.

Two Italy internationals joined Atletico Madrid this summer: Giacomo Raspadori left Napoli after three years in a deal worth €26m including bonuses, following Matteo Ruggeri, who joined in a €20m deal from Atalanta at the beginning of the window.

Juventus sold Next Gen graduate Nicolo Savona to Nottingham Forest for a fee slightly over the €15m mark after his first season in Serie A with the Bianconeri.

Nicolò Savona joins Nottingham Forest from Juventus on August 29, 2025.

Fellow young Italy defender Diego Coppola also moved to the Premier League this summer, joining Brighton and Hove Albion in a €12m deal from Hellas Verona.

Two Italians have also moved to Greece this window. Alessandro Vogliacco has joined PAOK on loan with an option to buy from Genoa, while Davide Calabria signed for Panathinaikos as a free agent at the end of his Milan contract.
