There were plenty of positives for Manchester City to take from their 2-nil win over Brentford in the Carabao Cup tie at the Etihad Stadium last night. Perhaps the biggest one was the performance of Manchester City’s squad players. Nearly all of City’s fringe players did exactly what they had to do to remind Pep Guardiola that they can contribute across this season. But for Oscar Bobb his night ended early. The young winger suffered a hamstring injury and had to be taken off after 19 minutes. Last night’s match was the ideal time for Bobb to remind everyone of his quality. Instead he hobbled off injured and it seems that everything is against Bobb right now.
Pep Guardiola revealed after last night’s match that Oscar Bobb has appeared to have suffered a hamstring injury. When asked about what injury the Norwegian international had sustained, Pep Guardiola told the media: “After 10/15 minutes he complained about a muscular injury. Apparently it’s a muscular injury in the hamstring. Hopefully he will come back soon.”
It remains to be seen how long Oscar Bobb would be sidelined for. But it would be a major surprise if he is available for Manchester City’s upcoming Premier League fixture against West Ham at the Etihad this Saturday. A further update on Bobb’s condition is expected when Pep Guardiola fronts the media on Friday. But the sight of Bobb hobbling off at the Etihad does give the impression that he faces a spell on the sidelines.
It seems that everything is against Oscar Bobb right now. Ahead of the 24/25 season, Bobb was Manchester City’s best player throughout their pre-season tour of the United States. But he suffered a fractured leg that effectively cost him his 24/25 season. From there, Bobb has been playing catch-up.
Oscar Bobb started this season in Manchester City’s starting eleven. He had several promising performances before he fell out of favour. The emergence of Rayan Cherki has seen Oscar Bobb’s opportunities become limited. The young winger failed to make an impact in Manchester City’s recent 2-nil defeat to Bayer Leverkusen. From that point onwards he hasn’t featured for Manchester City. That was until last night. Bobb needed a good performance for his own confidence and self-belief against Brentford but injury struck to take that opportunity away for the Norwegian international. It just seems that everything is against Oscar Bobb right now.

Oscar Bobb suffered a hamstring injury when the opportunity was there for him to make an impression last night. The hope is that the injury he sustained isn’t too serious but it does appear that everything is against the young winger for the time being.
