Legendary former AC Milan coach Arrigo Sacchi believes that Inter Milan have a squad that can compete for both Serie A and the Champions league.

Sacchi gave his thoughts in an interview published in today’s print edition of Milan-based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport, via FCInterNews.

Last season, there was not much more that Inter could have done in Serie A.

The Nerazzurri did not just win the league title. They did so in dominant fashion, with nearly twenty points separating them from second place in the table.

On the other hand, in Europe it was a disappointment for Inter.

Having reached the final of the previous season’s edition of the competition, last time around Inter bombed out at the round of sixteen stage.

And the manner of the Nerazzurri’s exit had been particularly disappointing.

Inter were in firm control in the first leg against Atletico Madrid. However, due to some profligate finishing they only had a 1-0 lead to show for it.

And then in the second leg, Inter briefly went 2-0 up on aggregate.

But then came the collapse. Atletico almost immediately responded to get back in the tie. And Inter could not withstand the onslaught, eventually going out on penalties.

Sacchi: “Inter Have The Squad For Both Serie A & Champions League”

There was a sense that some tiredness was a problem for Inter in the Champions League last season.

At the time of their tie against Atletico, the Nerazzurri were still focusing on the league.

Inter were putting everything into amassing their advantage in the Serie A table.

This time around, though, the Nerazzurri will have greater determination than ever to fight on all fronts.

Former Milan coach Sacchi argued that “Inter are the team with the deepest, most complete squad.”

“I believe Inzaghi will rotate the squad,” Sacchi predicted for tomorrow’ match against Monza.

“Because you can’t mess around against City.”

Sacchi gave the view that “The Nerazzurri have what it takes to compete for both the league and the Champions League.”

He added that “Monza have the quality of grit and determination that the ‘small’ teams often have, so Inter will have to work hard.”

“There are not results that are predetermined,” Sacchi said.
