A potential reason behind Leicester City's decision not to sack Marti Cifuentes has been revealed
Adrian Clarke has claimed that financial struggles may be all that is keeping Marti Cifuentes as Leicester City manager right now.
The Foxes have suffered a torrid season thus far, after suffering relegation from the Premier League last term.
Former QPR boss Cifuentes was brought in to try and lead them forward in the Championship, but Leicester have struggled immensely.
The King Power Stadium outfit started the term strongly, winning three of their first four matches to emerge as potential promotion candidates, whilst fellow relegated sides Southampton and Ipswich Town struggled.
However, Leicester are currently on a terrible run of form, having lost five of their last eight Championship matches, winning just twice during that time.

Whilst Leicester City have been struggling immensely on the pitch, issues behind the scenes also have the potential to spell doom for the club.
The Foxes have been charged with three breaches of PSR over their 23-24 finances, which could result in them being hit with a potential nine-point deduction. This would currently place Leicester 22nd in the table and therefore in a relegation battle.
Despite such a worrying run of form, Cifuentes has managed to keep his job, much to the surprise of some supporters.
When speaking on the What the EFL?! Podcast, former Arsenal and EFL midfielder, believes that Leicester’s potential for a point deduction and financial situation could be preventing them from relieving the Spaniard of his duties.
“I don't know if they can afford to sack him,” stated Clarke.
“They've not got a lot of money at the moment, Leicester City.
“They do need to know, there needs to be some clarity, doesn't there, sooner rather than later on this point deduction.
“Because it could propel them into a relegation battle, which is unthinkable really for Leicester fans, but they're not happy, the natives.”

Waiting for the outcome of their legal case over PSR breaches could be exactly what is keeping Cifuentes in a job at this moment in time, as it could determine how quickly the Foxes need to make a change.
The Spaniard has shown potential in the past whilst in charge of QPR and perhaps with more time, could see his philosophy finally start working at the King Power Stadium.
Leicester were severely limited in their recruitment during the summer due to their off-field issues, which hampered Cifuentes’ ability to make any changes to his squad. This could provide some explanation for his shortcomings and why the Foxes may choose to give him more time.
However, if Leicester are hit with a nine-point deduction, then they may have no choice but to sack Cifuentes. A relegation battle isn’t something anyone involved with the club will want to deal with and continuously poor performances may evoke real fear of a drop down to League One.
