One-time Barcelona and Real Madrid star Luís Figo highlighted a member of the former’s midfield ranks as the player he would sign for Los Blancos if afforded the choice.

The player in question? Pedri.

Youngster Pedri has of course taken his place front and centre in the media headlines across Spain over the last 24 hours.

This comes after the 22-year-old conjured up another sensational display in the middle of the park.

En route to Spain’s World Cup qualifying victory over Turkey, Pedri notched a brace and an assist amid nothing short of a world-class showing in La Roja’s engine room.

This added to what has been a fine opening to the new campaign for the former Las Palmas talent, now widely considered one of, if not the best midfielder in world football.

And as alluded to above, of the opinion that such talents would make Pedri the perfect signing for Real Madrid is Luís Figo.

Speaking during an appearance at a Betfair event (as cited by Diario Sport) early this week, Figo, who himself infamously crossed the Clásico divide, was asked which Barcelona star he would take to Real Madrid.

And the Portuguese went on to explain:

“If I could sign someone from Barça for Real Madrid, it would be Pedri.”
