Former Croatian defender Dario Simic waxed lyrical about Inter Milan newcomer Petar Sucic in his latest interview.
Speaking to Croatian outlet Sportske Jutarnji via FCInterNews, Simic praised his compatriot’s rise to stardom at San Siro.
Petar Sucic swapped Dinamo Zagreb for Inter in the summer, with the Nerazzurri splashing €15 million to secure his services.
Though the 21-year-old arrived as one of Europe’s hottest prospects, it’s fair to say that he has already exceeded expectations.
Sucic has quickly convinced everyone at Giuseppe Meazza, including head coach Cristian Chivu.
Indeed, the talented midfielder has amassed 14 appearances across all competitions, scoring a goal and adding two assists.
His only strike came in a 3-0 rout of Fiorentina in late October, and it was a piece of art.
Meanwhile, his impressive start to life in Serie A has solidified his place in Croatia’s national team setup.

Sucic has already overtaken senior stars, such as Henrikh Mkhitaryan, in the pecking order.
Furthermore, many already see him as Luka Modric’s natural successor on the national team.
“He’s on the right path,” Simic said. “As soon as he arrived in Milan, he showed his quality and has become an important player.
“Everyone praises him a lot. He just needs to keep going like this.
“His progress is steady, and he’s playing at a very high level. He’s already building a great career.”
Currently away on international duty, Sucic will feature for Croatia in the upcoming FIFA World Cup qualifiers against the Faroe Islands and Montenegro.
Ivan Dalic’s men are on the verge of securing their place at next summer’s tournament as they lead the way in Group L after six matches.
Indeed, the Croats have won five of their six games in the current qualifying cycle, barring a goalless draw at the Czech Republic.
