Former Roma striker Ruggero Rizzitelli analyzed Roma’s difficult season so far in an interview with Il Tempo.
“Ranieri took on a hot potato: he arrived at a time when Roma faced their three most difficult matches so far,” said Rizzitelli.
“They faced the league leaders in Napoli, then they faced Tottenham, where they made a great impression against a team that, just a few days earlier, had scored four goals against Manchester City.”
“Finally, they faced Atalanta, who are currently unplayable. It was a good match against the Bergamaschi, unlucky in some incidents. In the first half, Roma played it out and could have taken the lead with Dovbyk, but Celik’s own goal cut their legs off.”
“Now I see a Roma that plays with passion. Of course, it is better to win, but at this moment there is hope. It is no longer the team that is only defending and suffering.”
“It’s normal that when you look at the standings you get the shivers. The worst moment is over, there is some enthusiasm from the team, and now we expect some easy matches, even if playing with teams that have to fight to save themselves is never easy.”
