Exclusive claims €70m Chelsea star has just one option left after major deal collapses

Time is running out on the January window for players who want to get a move, and the biggest name among them is probably starting to get itchy feet.

Christopher Nkunku at least got a few minutes off the bench in the defeat to Man City on Saturday, although we’re sure that’s not changed his determination to leave Chelsea and find a team who will appreciate him and use him.

Bayern Munich were leading the race, and CaughtOffside report that the French attacker had got as far as agreeing personal terms with the German side before the deal collapsed because of the difference between Chelsea’s demands and their offer.

The Bules want around €70m for their star, according to reports, but they’re not getting it from Bayern anytime soon.

Manchester United still provide flicker of hope for forward

But all hope it not lost for Nkunku – he can still pray that struggling Manchester United decide to roll the dice and bring him in to try and spark their season.

The same CaughtOffside report says that Nkunku is a top target for them, and that Ruben Amorim’s team are desperate to strengthen up front this month. The struggles of Joshua Zirkzee and Rasmus Hojlund make a new option look very appealing.

The suggestion before had been some kind of trade for Alejandro Garnacho, although that side of things has “also hit some complications” and always sounded difficult to begin with.

As it stands, this deal looks just too big and unwieldy for both parties to get done this month – although we’d love to be prove wrong. With Nicolas Jackson now struggling to find the net, Chelsea may also decide they want to keep their other best attacking option on the books anyway.
