Marc Cucurella is “in contact” with Chelsea and Atletico Madrid over a potential transfer this summer, which looks increasingly likely.

Our writer Simon Phillips has been on fire with his exclusives recently, and today he’s got more information on the growing talk that Marc Cucurella could leave Chelsea this summer.

That move has seemed increasingly likely for a while – Cucurella has just two years left on his contract so it would be club policy to sell him if a deal isn’t agreed. But now we’re starting to get detail on where he might go.

Second option opens up for Cucurella – who will probably still take first

Phillips says that Atletico Madrid are “now in contact” with the full back and with Chelsea about a potential transfer this summer. It’s a move that makes sense on their end too, with Diego Simeone’s side looking for a solid left back.

There is one joker in the pack, however: Enzo Maresca’s impending move to Man City. The manager was a big fan of Cucurella at Chelsea, and could try to bring him to his new club. As Phillips says though, Cucurella has wanted to finish his career in Spain, so Atletico seems a natural next step.
