SagnayFormer Arsenal and France star Bacary Sagna has revealed that he was close to joining Inter Milan which he has supported since he was a kid fan, adding it is difficult Ange-Yoan Bonny makes the France FIFA 2026 World Cup squad.
Bacary Sagna revealed that he is an Inter Milan fan and has supported the club since he was a child. He added that he was close to joining the club after leaving Arsenal.
Sagna also added he thinks it is unlikely compatriot Ange-Yoan Bonny makes the France FIFA World Cup 2026 squad.
Fellow Inter Milan teammate Marcus Thuram is sure of a place should he be injury free.
Sagna made these statements interview with SempreInter.com and The Italian Football Podcast at an online event hosted by BetVictor Online Casino.
Bacary Sagna spent seven season at Arsenal, featuring 284 times across all competitions scoring five goals in the process. He won the FA Cup with Arsenal during the 2013/2014 season.
Sagna joined Manchester City in the summer of 2014 where he spent three season, featuring 86 times across all competitions, failing to score once.
The former French international spent six months in the Serie A, with Benevento from February 2018. He featured 13 times in the Serie A scoring just the one goal.

“I was close to joining Inter in 2014 after leaving Arsenal.” Sagna began.
“I met with Inter. I met with Piero Ausilio and I met the President Eric Thohir.
“But, you know, England, for me, was number one, and moving my family to Milan, with me, moving my kids, changing country, it was a bit tricky.
“And at that time the Premier League was the Premier League, and remains the Premier League. I liked Inter, and they are actually my favorite team. Since I was a kid.
“Maicon, Zanetti, Brazilian Ronaldo. I am an Interista” Sagna continued.
Sagna then spoke about Ange-Yoan Bonny’s chances of playing for France at the 2026 FIFA World Cup this coming summer.
“Well, the problem is, you already had a group of players that are performing, and who know each other.
“And I’m not sure he will fit so easily into the squad. You need to build relationships in the squad.
“And you need to be able to live five weeks together, you need to be able to understand your teammates and know how your teammates play.
“You need to build up the relationship, and it’s not only six months or one year that the coach is basing his choices on.

Former Arsenal star Bacary Sagna added that he would be happy if Inter Milan striker Ange-Yoan Bonny if he made the France 2026 FIFA World Cup Squad.
“I think Deschamps managed to build a good group that already has proven itself. In the World Cup, in Brazil 2014, quarter-final.
“So, all these players are more or less the same. You might have one or two elements that fit in” Sagna argued.
“I would be happy for him. Because that would be a nice story for him.
“But, you know, it requires much more than having a good six months, or just doing well in a season to enter the national team.
“Because then the pressure is different, and suddenly, now, the style of play also is different. Because you have big players, their choices are not based on your run.
“They also have personality, they also keep the ball a bit longer” Sagna continued.
“Also, you have to take in consideration that your game, that you’re living in a club, might get affected in the national team.
“And I don’t know any national team, except Spain that plays like a club team. I don’t know any. The only one is Spain.
“Spain, if you look at Man City, if you look at Barcelona, copy paste. But I don’t have any,
“I can’t recall one national team that plays exactly like a club. And the French national team surely doesn’t play like any club” Sagna concluded.
