Newcastle United have made contact to sign one of Chelsea’s main transfer targets for the summer transfer window.

This news comes after Chelsea got a vital three points on Friday night against Manchester United in what was a crucial win for the race for Champions League football next season.

One Chelsea legend Gary Cahill was at the match and he has hailed one key player in the game as being one of the best in Europe after his influence on the match.

Cahill wasn’t the only one praising this player as well, with team mate Pedro Neto joining in and picking up on the character of the Chelsea hero from Friday night.

Chelsea will now move on to their final league game of the season next weekend away at Nottingham Forest, and it’s another game they have to win the secure Champions League qualification.

Chelsea will have competition for targets

It is the way of the footballing world this summer that many clubs are hunting to sign new players in the same position, so they will always be looking at the same potential targets.

Newcastle, as well as other big clubs, will be battling Chelsea for a number of their targets over the next couple of months.

I put the full story out on my Substack site earlier this week, but I can exclusively reveal that Newcastle have made contact to sign Jamie Gittens from Dortmund this summer.

However, Gittens is not such a priority for Chelsea anymore anyway even before Newcastle made their interest known, and this is down to his fee increasing since Dortmund confirmed Champions League football for next season. This had put Chelsea off a bit.

Nothing has been decided either way yet and Chelsea could still go for the young winger.
