Two Yorkshire clubs have entered the battle to sign a League Two forward
After a season of struggle in 2025-26, Sheffield Wednesday will now be allowed to pay fees for incoming players this summer, but they're set to be rivalled by another Yorkshire club for a winger target this summer, Football League World can exclusively reveal.
The Owls are under new ownership, with American businessmen David and Michael Storch coming together with Tom Costin to form a consortium to bring them out of administration, and having avoided a 15-point deduction ahead of the new League One season, their transfer fee ban has also been lifted.
Wednesday will still have to adhere to a transfer plan to satisfy the EFL that they will not be under financial strain so quickly after they were saved from their demise, but with the likes of former Stockport County CEO Simon Wilson arriving as sporting director, they are making big moves off the pitch - now they need to make them squad-wise.

Sheffield Wednesday will need to replenish their squad aplenty this summer, and FLW understands that they are one of a number of League One clubs that are interested in signing Colchester United winger Kyreece Lisbie.
Henrik Pedersen's side are not alone though. Oxford United remain in the hunt for the 22-year-old, whilst we can also reveal that Huddersfield Town are interested too in giving the attacker a chance at League One level, much like his twin brother Kyrell is doing at Peterborough United.
Kyreece Lisbie found the back of the net 11 times for Danny Cowley's Colchester in League Two last season, although he almost secured a mid-season switch to Reading FC before the plug was pulled on that particular deal by the Essex outfit's hierarchy - he was also wanted by Zulte Waregem in Belgium earlier this year.
Lisbie - the son of ex-Premier League and EFL striker Kevin - bounced around a number of clubs in his youth days, passing through the likes of Leyton Orient, Watford and Brentford, plying his trade for the latter's B team before making the move to Colchester in February 2025 for an undisclosed fee.
Following a brief loan stint with Braintree Town at the back end of 2024-25, where he linked up with his twin brother before his move to Peterborough, Kyreece quickly became a key asset for Cowley and Colchester in 2025-26, taking a spot on the right wing for the most part of the season, where he contributed to 17 goals and assists across the league campaign.
With one year left on his contract at Colchester, Lisbie looks set to be heading towards the exit door at the JobServe Community Stadium, but there will be a battle for the exciting attacker's services, with Wednesday, Huddersfield and Oxford all set to go head-to-head.
