The defender made the switch to St. Andrew’s on deadline day after agreeing a two-year contract, joining alongside the loan of Patrick Roberts.

The 32-year-old featured in three of the Blades’ opening four fixtures, but has made the move to a Championship rival, with Chris Davies hoping he can help the club push for promotion to the Premier League.

The centre-back, along with Roberts, concluded a summer that saw 14 signings made since gaining promotion from League One last season.

Hendrie believes that Robinson could be a good addition to the Birmingham squad given the experience and quality he will bring to the team.

However, the Sky Sports pundit is surprised that Sheffield United would cash in on the defender given the issues Ruben Selles’ side have had at the back already in this campaign.

“I’m mightily surprised, to be honest, particularly with the situation they’re in this season,” Hendrie exclusively told Football League World.

“A poor start from them, defensively looked I think vulnerable from day duck, really, and him being experienced I think this is an absolutely massive signing for Blues, I really do.

“I think they’ve got such a big squad of players and not just players that are making up numbers.

“I think Jack Robinson brings real experience, it's a very good signing for them.

“Big coup for Blues.”

Sheffield United’s difficult start under Ruben Selles

Sheffield United have endured a miserable start to the new season, losing all four of their opening fixtures, leaving them bottom of the Championship table.

Selles’ side have conceded seven goals, scoring just once, with the club already eight points adrift of the play-offs going into the September international break.

Meanwhile, Birmingham are 10th in the table, with seven points to their name.

Next up for Sheffield United is a trip to face Ipswich Town at Portman Road on 12 September in an 8pm kick-off.

Jack Robinson sale makes sense with new signings

Sheffield United were looking quite light at the back after the first couple of games, particularly during the 4-1 loss to Bristol City, but they have since added Japhet Tanganga, Nils Zatterstrom, Ben Godfrey and Mark McGuinness to their squad.

So the loss of Robinson isn’t as big a deal as it might’ve been but for this extensive activity late in the window.

The 32-year-old has a lot of experience, but he is also past his prime, and may have struggled for game time had he stayed at Bramall Lane.

Sheffield United still need to work out their defensive issues, but the departure of Robinson shouldn’t be as big a deal as it could’ve been now that they’ve brought in some quality additions to replace him in the squad for the rest of the season.
