Ryan Mason is still getting to grips with his Baggies squad after his summer arrival as head coach to replace Tony Mowbray, with only three new players arriving as it currently stands - Nat Phillips, George Campbell and Aune Heggebo being the trio to join.

Very few players have departed the first-team squad either, with John Swift, Semi Ajayi, Grady Diangana and the retired Kyle Bartley being the only individuals to exit - but there could be another rarely-seen face joining them.

West Brom exit expected for Gianluca Frabotta before transfer deadline

FLW has been told that a departure from Albion is more-than likely for left-back Gianluca Frabotta, who has been rarely seen since his move to the club last summer from Juventus.

The 26-year-old, who was an Italy youth international at four different levels, played 18 times for Juve in his career and took in multiple loan spells across his home nation before securing a permanent switch to West Brom in the summer of 2024.

Frabotta failed to start a Championship game for the Baggies though, appearing just six times in English football's second tier, with four of those outings coming in the first seven matches of the campaign.

The Italian's only start came in an EFL Cup defeat last August to Fleetwood Town, and he was kept out of the side throughout the campaign by both Torbjorn Heggem and Callum Styles.

With his final appearance coming on New Year's Day 2025 against Preston North End as a late second half substitute, Frabotta's time in the Black Country looks set to be coming to an end after becoming the forgotten man, and with just over three weeks to go until the transfer window slams shut, West Brom are now looking to find a new home for the defender to let him play regular football elsewhere.

Gianluca Frabotta's West Brom contract situation

One issue that Albion may have though is that Frabotta still has two years remaining on the three-year deal he penned last year.

Therefore, if clubs are not forthcoming in a bid to take the left-sider off their hands, then West Brom may have to compromise and either loan the defender out whilst still paying a portion of his wages, or come to a mutual agreement to terminate his contract.

As per Capology, Frabotta is earning an estimated £20,000 a week at the club, so striking a deal to get the lesser-seen defender off the books could be easier said than done.
