Not too long ago, Marc-Andre ter Stegen had become a hot topic at Galatasaray in their bid to sign a new goalkeeper this summer.

The club’s long-serving goalkeeper, Fernando Muslera, is leaving, and the team needs an accomplished name who can replace the Uruguayan.

Ter Stegen was one of the names considered, but it was later said that the Turkish giants are considering a move for other goalkeepers.

Ter Stegen becomes Galatasaray’s first-choice

However, in a shift of fortunes, it appears ter Stegen has now become the first-choice target for Galatasaray as they look to bring in a new face in between the sticks.

This is according to Turkish journalist Serhan Turk, who believes the Turkish giants are now considering a move for the Barcelona shotstopper this summer.

This comes in the wake of reports that Barça will not force the German international out of the club by freezing him out of the team.

Ter Stegen, in fact, will. be given an opportunity to fight for his place in the team. But he has been clearly informed that Joan Garcia and Wojciech Szczesny will remain the club’s definitive preferences.

As for Galatasaray, the Turkish outfit are currently in a soup as well, as the team looks to bring in Victor Osimhen permanently by negotiating a transfer with Napoli.

Taking on the responsibility of ter Stegen, therefore, could only be a distraction until the club reach a definitive point in the pursuit of Osimhen.

Ter Stegen, for his part, has shown very little desire to leave Barcelona. However, the summer is long and it will be interesting to see if the German finally gives in and leave Catalonia, in search of pastures new.
