Liam Rosenior is not overawed by the scepticism surrounding his appointment as Chelsea's new head coach.

Rosenior hassigned a six-year deal at Chelsea, having impressed in France at Strasbourg. BlueCo, who own both clubs, have selected Rosenior as their successor to Enzo Maresca, following the latter's exit earlier this month.

Rosenior will take charge ofChelsea for the first time when the Blues face Charlton Athletic in the FA Cup's third round this weekend.

Chelsea's appointment of Rosenior has been greeted with scepticism. The Englishman has never previously coached in the Premier League, having taken in Football League stints at Derby Country and Hull prior to his move to France.

The 41-year-old is aware of the reception his appointment has received, but has insisted he has previous in ignoring outside noise.

Addressing the media on Friday, Rosenior said he was viewed as a 'joke' upon his appointment at Strasbourg before winning over the fans and doubters by leading the club to European football. He underlined his confidence that he can bring similar success to Stamford Bridge.

"When I went in at Strasbourg I was a joke in the media and they said that my team would finish last," he said at his pre-match press conference.

"I was a nobody from England and we finished three points off the Champions League places. The noise is just noise.

"I am not promising it, but I am working towards it and I believe strongly we can be very successful here.

"A club of this stature, the fans want success and they have every right to want success now. My job, to win over the fans, I have to win football games.

"It's about hard work, determination and spirit. We're trying to build things here in a different way. I'm very confident that in time we will show everyone why we have done it in this way."
