Liverpool summer signing Rafaela Borggräfe is being investigated by the FA over alleged racist language during a pre-season camp.
The German youth international joined SC Freiburg during the transfer window and has yet to make her debut for the club, sitting on the bench in the Reds' 1-0 defeat away to Leicester City at the weekend.
According to The Guardian, Borggräfe made the comment as the squad was about to take a team photograph with the player since then denying allegations.
"Liverpool Football Club is aware of an alleged use of discriminatory language by an LFC Women’s player," the Merseyside club said in a statement.
"The club has followed its protocols to the fullest extent and the alleged incident has been reported to the FA, which is conducting an investigation with our full support. We condemn all forms of discrimination; it has no place in football or society. We are unable to comment further while the investigation is ongoing."
Borggräfe could potentially make her debut for the club when they travel to Aston Villa in the WSL on Sunday.
