It is a home fixture against Swansea City Under-18s on Monday night for Leeds United Under-18s, who continue their FA Youth Cup campaign with action from the LNER Community Stadium getting underway at 7pm.

In their Third Round fixture, the young Whites advanced 1-0 against a tough Bristol City Under-18s side thanks to a goal from Carrick Njinko in the second half.

The prestigious tournament was a memorable one for Rob Etherington’s side two seasons ago, when they reached the final at the Etihad Stadium against Manchester City, backed by over 6,500 travelling supporters.

In that 2023-24 run, Leeds picked up memorable victories against Norwich City, Brighton & Hove Albion, Sheffield United, Liverpool and Millwall.

Last season, their run was once more ended by the Sky Blues, this time in the Fifth Round, after wins over Portsmouth and AFC Fylde.

Previously in the league, United suffered defeat to Burnley despite Jack Morris and Callum Mills netting. Leeds currently sit 10th in the U18 Premier League North with 15 points from 12 matches played.

The Swans will likely offer a stern test for United, having won 10 of their 17 matches this season in all competitions and scoring 52 goals. In their last match, however, the opposition were held by Brentford to a goalless draw.

The view from inside the camp:

Speaking to leedsunited.com ahead of the match, young Whites boss Rob Etherington praised the Swans, saying: “I think they are a good side. They have a clear style of play.

“Our players are up for it and excited. We have to be aggressive in the right moments. It will be a good challenge for us.

“It is a prestigious competition, this is something that the football club has got good pedigree in and ultimately, it is an opportunity that gives all our players a better chance of playing for our first team.”
