Cesc Fabregas spoke at a press conference to introduce Roma-Como, a matchday 15 match in Serie A.
“A European pace? Definitely,” the Spanish coach began. “It’s an experience where you learn a lot, day after day here at the training center. When there’s less time. You have to manage it differently. The time will come, Roma is crucial now.”
He then praised Gasperini: “I know Gasperini is a special coach; he’s created his own incredible methodology, something different in Italian football. Many coaches, both Spanish and English, call me to ask why I do this or that.”
“And you say, ‘Wow, this is Gasperini.’ He’s created this for so many years; he’s forged a very clear identity; he develops young players, and for that, he commands enormous respect.”
Against Roma, Como will be without Maximo Perrone. Fabregas said: “He’s an important player, and we probably won’t have Sergi Roberto to replace him.”
On Roma: “Gasperini has a lot of quality. He wants to give it his all, and now they also have Ferguson, who scored a brace. We’ll have to give it our all too if we hope to win.”
He concluded by discussing Gasperini’s playing style: “I like Gasperini a lot. He does different things and always has a clear idea of what he’s doing. When I see his teams, they always play with a positive attitude. Before, it was Lookman and De Ketelaere, now he has Soulé and Pellegrini. He plays a lot on the wings. The attackers all want to score, they defend clearly. I don’t know him; I’ve never had the chance to see him live.”
