Fabrizio Romano bombshell is simply massive for Liverpool

Fabrizio Romano dropped a bombshell and it's a major boost for Liverpool. This could get the deal done.

Liverpool have one month to get all their transfer business sorted. While the World Cup naturally put a bit of a hold on things, it's easy to feel like they've been quite slow.

There are clear holes in the squad. Ibrahima Konate left without a replacement - Jeremy Jacquet, after all, was signed before Liverpool knew they were losing their former no.5.

Midfield is complicated as no one is entirely sure what will happen with Curtis Jones. And then there's the mess up top.

Mohamed Salah left and Liverpool haven't got anyone to play on that flank. They also lost someone who, despite struggling, was still one of their most productive forwards.

The Reds hope to replace that production with a signing on the left. Namely, they want Bradley Barcola from Paris Saint-Germain but the European champions are putting up a fierce battle in negotiations.

Reports suggest they've set the asking price at £145m, which would make it the third-highest fee in history. Surely Liverpool talk them down from that.

And there are signs that PSG will get easier to deal with. Fabrizio Romano dropped a bit of a bombshell in that regard on Saturday as he explained that they're hoping to sign Ferran Torres from Barcelona.

Importantly, he mentioned how their desire to sign Torres stems from losing a series of forward players this summer - and includes Barcola's potential move to Liverpool in that.

"Paris Saint-Germain remain in direct talks with Ferran Torres camp over move this summer," he said on Twitter.

"Barça do NOT want to sell Ferran; the only way is if Ferran asks to leave the club. ❗️

"PSG in for Godts and Ferran as Kang-in, Ramos and Mbaye leave plus Liverpool push for Barcola."

That's an incredibly positive sign for Liverpool. Ferran Torres heading to PSG essentially replaces Barcola as an elite-level option and there's little to no chance that they want both next season.
