It appears that FC Barcelona are now pushing to finally make signings during this transfer window. With a successful season now behind them, the Catalan giants must look forward. Fortunately, Barcelona seem to be aware of what they need to do right now.
After renewing the contracts of players like Raphinha and recently Lamine Yamal, the club can now focus on signing new players as well. Ultimately, the transfer window exists solely to enable teams to make such acquisitions and improve their team moving forward.
That is why, for many weeks now, Barcelona have been linked to various transfer targets. While the forwards may have gained most of the attention, one position that was also of particular interest to Barcelona, as per such reports, was the goalkeeping position.
Joan Garcia, currently the goalkeeper of La Liga side Espanyol, was the player most heavily linked to the club. However, uncertainties began to creep in, and there was no guaranteed way of knowing if advancements were concrete or not.

Now, however, an incredibly reliable source has finally confirmed some great news. As per the ever-reliable Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano, the agreement over a long-term deal between Barcelona and Joan Garcia is now very advanced and considered to be almost done.

The journalist further confirmed that Barcelona is now anticipating the final green light to arrive in the coming days. Negotiations have been underway since quite some time, and a deal was reportedly also put on the table a while ago.
This comes as great news for Barcelona, who were working hard to secure a new arrival for the goalkeeping position. As to what kind of role Joan Garcia would play if he ends up arriving, that will likely depend on just how capable Hansi Flick considers him to be.
