Chelsea are almost certain to sign a new midfielder this summer, and they are currently working on a long list of players they could target.

Enzo Fernandez looks likely to leave, but even if he doesn’t, there’s a sense that our current options aren’t up to scratch, and that Xabi Alonso will want to bring players in which fit his system.

Bournemouth want to start Rose era right with key man tied down

One name we’ve seen mentioned a lot is Alex Scott of Bournemouth. He had a great season, and gradually became a Premier League player everyone is talking about as the Cherries ended the campaign 18 games unbeaten.

There are a number of teams linked, including Chelsea, but signing him will be a real battle. According to Fabrizio Romano, Bournemouth have offered Scott a new deal to try and secure him long term under new manager Marco Rose.

They’ll be playing in Europe and are an amazing platform for players to earn big moves – they may yet persuade him to stay another year.

Angelo Stiller remains a target available on the market, and it will be really interesting to see which top team takes a punt on the Stuttgart midfielder.

Stiller could replace Enzo Fernandez if the Argentine were to leave, although they are different profiles.
