According to O Jogo, Farioli has been linked with the Italy vacancy after Gattuso’s departure, but the FC Porto head coach remains committed to the project he started a year ago.

Italy are searching for a new national team boss and, with a new federation chief elected only days ago, the push to identify candidates has intensified.

The 37-year-old has a contract at Porto through 2028 and is not considering taking charge of his country at this stage. The prospect of the Champions League in 2026/27, together with a title defence, is viewed as a major incentive to continue.

He has also forged a strong bond with the club, its leadership and supporters, which he aims to build on next season.

Other names mentioned for the Italy role include Roberto Mancini, Antonio Conte and Stefano Pioli.
